Started by Shohei Mitani, a highly respected DJ in the Tokyo club scene, Japan's Novo Tempo - a blend of improvised Jazz and electronic sound - is a live outfit that consists of Akimasa Yamada (Programmer) and Saigenji (Guitar & Vocal). They have had two highly regarded releases on the Japanese Eurasian Suite label.
After Richard E reviewed their "Novo Tempo Meets Eurasian Suite Vol. 2" release for UK music magazine Undercover they kept in contact and subsequently asked Richard if he would remix one of their tracks. Richard chose to rework the original freeform instrumental of Circles, Annabel heard it and was moved to contribute contemplative lyrics and vocals, channelling the spiritual jazz of Pharaoh Sanders and Leon Thomas (whom she knew and was her mentor on the New York jazz scene).
Available until now on a Japanese only Sony jazz compilation cd, "Isao OSADA presents AFRONTIER - 12 Colours To 7 Seas" but now released for digital download worldwide on Further Out Recordings... Spiritual saxophones for this version provided by Jake Telford. Video by Richard E.
