TO THE MOON Let me take you to the moon Escape the satellites and all their chatter Everybody's joining soon Let me take you to the moon And the journey's just begun You'll be a millionaire of dust There's no looking back to earth There's no telling what you're worth When the creatures crash and burn All the sinners running round Everybody takes their turn To leave the ground Everybody seems to think you've made it They'd like to cash in on all your hard work Everybody sends their love At least that's what they're supposed to say Let me take you to the moon Who else knows you like I do We'll shoot down all the demon stars We have to find the pill of immortality When the creatures crash and burn All the sinners running round Everybody takes their turn To leave the ground When the creatures crash and burn Who will be there when we've all moved on Shout your name into the sun And you'll be golden Let me take you to the moon Let me take you to the moon Let me take you to the moon Let me take you to the moon Let me take you to the moon Let me take you to the moon

When the night comes Dreams invade Cities darken Logic fades I saw you creeping On your knees Under the radar Beneath the trees Take me with you I need to see We must report Or we will never be free Never be free I saw you leading An army of shadows A legion of whispers An apogee of hope Let me join you I want to hear The sound of the crowd As they disappear Night's bright fire Lights the way Say your prayers For the dawning of the day I saw you hiding In the grass Raising armies In the underpass We are the users Our ignorance their bliss They say they love us But we must resist Must resist I saw you leading An army of shadows A legion of whispers An apogee of hope This is a story The author verifies The reader wonders If he is still alive
3.
Walking that street just isn't the same What was once real now seems like a game I heard a new sound in the cloud A host of demons singing loud Painting pictures with their tongues Of all the things that we got wrong Of treason and lust And seasons in Hell It's going well Oh it's going well Now it's too late to be ashamed You put your life on show It's too late for us to hide your name You agreed to the interview This is The Great Showing This is The Great Showing Secondly angels joined the throng Holding up mirrors for each one Reflecting the fear To amplify love Hope from above Oh hope from above Why do you think it's going to be fine Blocking the truth from your timeline You can't escape the recording eye When is the time to do or die This is The Great Showing This is The Great Showing This is our time This is The Big Reveal This is The Great Showing This is The Great Showing This is our time This is The Big Reveal
4.
Don't smoke on the plastic grass You will be seen And you will not pass Everybody wants a piece of you Read the signs Then destroy the proof I'm not the person That I introduced you to I'll skim your life Then I'll feed it back to you I'll help you lose yourself In everything you do Same day delivery You just have to choose Sit back, relax, Enjoy the remote view Let go your mind And lose yourself And lose yourself In the Whispering Grove And the Telephone Trees In the Radio Sunset And the Satellite Night The Happiness Club Is full up to the brim There is a loophole That will not let you in Do you want me to watch While you drown in your own sin Feedback is ubiquitous In systems of control I'll shout your name And you shout it back to me Error correct Error correct Error correct Error correct Error correct Error correct In the Whispering Grove And the Telephone Trees In the Radio Sunset And the Satellite Night In the Whispering Grove And the Telephone Trees In the Radio Sunset And the Satellite Night In the Whispering Grove And the Telephone Trees In the Radio Sunset And the Satellite Night
5.
I awoke to a terrific glamour in the streets The crowd was silent in your wake The loudest siren on the block And the billboards screamed your name As you processed in ecstasy I surrendered to your cold display Your lucky legs and longing hair I spied upon your cryptic lips And peeled the painted faces from your fingertips Our wild, impatient days began to jump the line and rush ahead into the dark's embrace Where we signed away our mortal rights To taste the liquor of the night Revenge season was in full claque And together we killed history I danced on time bombs To make you care You pushed aside the surly shadows Of clicking tongues To show the world I licked your powdered cheek To keep the high While you described infinity Though some would dare To wonder why We claimed the fool's divinity
6.
Splinters 03:12
I took the splinters out of your eyes Fed the machine that kept you alive Burned all the winters in your old soul You made the headlines move to the side Tripping the wires on all I desire Pulling the music from my cold soul See all the aliens in the yard Trying to capture all that we have Everyone sees it in their own way I cut the strings that were tied to your arms Flayed all the demons that were keeping you calm Letting your rage have it's own say You slit the eyes that were watching me fail Clipped the wires that were stealing my brain Letting me wake up to the bright day See all the aliens in the yard They come in peace but we're finding it hard To see life in a new way
7.
Flutter 05:52
You were late to the party No-one noticed You cling to the spires For fear of blowing away Every foolish dream Comes back to haunt you Mistaken for a ghost Day after day You walk through the world And you wonder Was it meant to be Are we even here And the heartstrings flutter And the heartstrings flutter And the heartstrings flutter And the heartstrings flutter And the heartstrings flutter And the heartstrings flutter I lost your face On the carousel Searched the rooftops For your smile Hit all the bars While shouting your name Stopping the clocks And the cars Saturday you left forever Tuesday you returned Let's see this through Together Let's agree Not to get burned And the heartstrings flutter And the heartstrings flutter And the heartstrings flutter
8.
Over 03:08
Tears in the cloud Show me the sky Everything passes by Humans are fools Gods are no better Animals cleave to the gene When this is over When this is over When this is over Where will you be The statues watch me As I leave the show Nobody knows where we go When this is over When this is over When this is over Where will you be Will you listen Can you hear me Won't you listen Understand me When this is over When this is over When this is over
9.
Are you just floating in space Reliving moments of grace Are you just letting it happen I've got my issues too Let's get out of here To some painted places To some gaudy haunts To some smokey spaces Put your hands up for me Show me all the feels Let's tell a different story Where the good times are real Good times are real Let it all hang out Let it all hang out Let it all hang out Let it all hang out The stars are flying away We're zipping by just as fast Let's get it on like before But this time we know the score No more golden rules No more teacher's pet We are the rebel rebels We are the future set There's fighting to be done The path remains obscure Let's write "love" on the walls "L'amour" sur les murs We are the future set We are the future set Let it all hang out Let it all hang out We are the future set We are the future set Let it all hang out Let it all hang out

about

Richard E's new Opening Scene album marks the beginning of a new era for the British Art Rocker. A record that marks the first full release of Richard E's solo career, the record is also a reflection of the wide range of influences, sounds, and styles he used to create it.

All songs were written during lockdown, making the album's creative process a bewildering and introspective one. As a result, the album's influence and sonic narrative were shaped by this introspection.

Opening Scene was fully mixed and produced at Richard's home studio. The amazing sound also came from guitarist Eric Klerks, bassist David J, pianist Mike Garson, drummer Chris Parise and eminent jazz guitarist Jon Dalton.

Throughout Opening Scene, Eric Klerks played a critical role on numerous tracks. Best known as the guitarist from Annabel (lee) and Captain Beefheart's Magic Band, he crafted rhythm and lead guitar lines on several songs using his musical wizardry.

Bauhaus / Love & Rockets member David J joined Richard in his studio to collaborate on four tracks, and the prolific pianist for David Bowie, Mike Garson, graciously added his magic to The Great Showing.

First single “To The Moon” is a mesmerizing track exploring cryptocurrency, NFTs, and the emergence of the blockchain, "To The Moon" creates a mystical mood. Instant wealth is a dream many people have, but those dreams often come crashing down. “To The Moon" exudes an old-fashioned prog pop sound with hypnotic vocals reminiscent of David Bowie or Bryan Ferry, jaunty guitar riffs, and psychedelic undertones.
